Treatment Approaches

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT helps with reframing unhelpful thoughts, assertive communication and mindfulness. I teach you how to identify irrational thoughts, question and challenge them and think more constructively. I teach you how to have a healthy inner dialogue with yourself on an ongoing basis. I also teach you how to express feelings, needs, preferences and requests to get more of your needs met.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT helps with self soothing, emotion regulation, acceptance, preventing negative consequences and promoting healthy boundaries. I teach you how to ground through the five senses, build mind/body connection, understand the link between your triggers, thoughts, feelings and behaviors and identify whether your boundaries are rigid, loose or healthy.

Existential Therapy

Existential therapy helps you to activate the will to create meaning so that you can become the main character of your life and live on the edge of your seat. Understanding that you have the power of choice allows you to become the creator of your story!

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

REBT helps you to have a thicker skin, become more stoic, learn how to "force yourself" to shift your mindset in a constructive way, identify "should/must" thoughts which promote suffering unnecessarily.

Reality Therapy

A reality therapy approach brings sessions down to Earth. I guide you to sort through the facts of your situation. In a non-judgmental way, I help you to accept the reality of your experience by being direct and exploring discrepancies. The only way out, is all the way through.

Eclectic Therapy

Most therapists are eclectic today, meaning we pull from a variety of approaches to support clients in a personalized way. Each session calls for a different approach. I often provide psychoeducation in sessions and provide ongoing resources and suggestions for between sessions.

Gottman Approach

I regularly introduce Gottman psychoeducational resources in both individual and couples sessions. The Gottman Institute found with about 94% accuracy which couples stay together and why. While I am not formally trained in the Gottman Method, I often pass along evidence based resources from Gottman in sessions to promote effective communication, healthy bonding, rebuilding of trust and renewal within connections.
